Duke University's Nicholas School of the Environment Dean Norm Christensen appointed James A. Spangler, Executive Vice President of BKA, to the office of President of the Alumni Council for 1999-2001. Mr. Spangler has served as a member of the council since 1996. His new responsibilities will be to guide the Council in its efforts to support the $51 million Capital Campaign for the School, advise the Dean and his staff on academic initiatives, and to participate as the Alumni Representative on the School's Board of Visitors. "Jim has been a leader in North Carolina's environmental professions since he received his Master Degree here," said Christensen, "and we're pleased he will lead these initiatives for the School as well."
